The face off between Commissioner For Higher Education, Prof Patrick Muoboghare and the National Association of Delta State Students took a different twist, spilling contents of the former’s can of worms.
Focus Naija can authoritatively report that loggerhead started when the students association in a letter addressed to the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa declared the commissioner persona non grata and declared a 14 day ultimatum for him to vacate his office or risk the wrath of Delta state students over allegations of high mindedness and nonchalance.
The first four years of the Okowa Administration witnessed a robust and cordial relationship between all stakeholders in the education sector and where challenges aroused, such issues were resolved on a round table amicably, the letter read.
The office of the Honourable Commissioner (Jude Sinebe) was home for students, students’ leaders and all concerned parties in the educational sector. The result of the open door policy was ultimately Peace; for the community, government and general public.
The student community no doubt is the most intellectual, vibrant and restless part of the state, as such only a calm, responsible and responsive personality should man the office of the Ministry of Higher Education.
The cabinet reshuffle of the second term of His Excellency saw the appointment of Prof. Muoboghare taking charge. While we anticipated a changed personality from what we witnessed while he served as Hon. Commissioner for Basic Education in the Emmanual Uguaghan dispensation for years, unfortunately nothing seem to have changed rather things seem to have deteriorated with this accidental public servant. Known for his Old fashioned high mindedness, Prof. Muoboghare is primitive, antiquated, and not in tune with 21st century leadership skills.
It is on record officially and via other medium that all avenue to interact with the ministry of Higher Education on issues affecting the welfare and interest of Delta State students has failed.
Following the woeful failure of Prof. Patrick Muoboghare as Commissioner for Higher Education, NADESSTU hereby calls for his removal from office and hereby declare him unfit to hold any public office in Delta State.
A fourteen (14) days ultimatum is hereby issued for his removal from office as Hon. Commissioner for Higher Education, failure of which we would have no option than to mobilize our teeming members nationwide to a peaceful demonstration across the length and breadth of the state.
We know our Governor to be a listening man, we hereby anticipate timely action on our humble request. While we await approval of our request, we hereby declare Prof. Patrick Muoboghare “PERSONA NON GRATA” on all of Delta State Institutions and urge our members to embarrass him if found trespassing 200meters away from our campuses.
Sequel to the ultimatum issued, members of the association on social media accused the commissioner of sleeping with and impregnating his wife’s innocent relative who stays with them.
Alleged to have divorced his wife for her pregnant relative, the commissioner was also dragged for deducting salaries of his colleagues for two years during his first tenure as Chairman of the Delta State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU using a non-existent WYLAN project as bait to rip off his colleagues.
Some ignorant nuisants has been shouting that the Commissioner for Higher Education is a Man of Integrity and Moral.
1. What is the definition of moral? Is it the same man, in his first tenure when he was ASUU Chairman, defrauded AcademicStaff of DELSU, deducting from their Salary for two and half years for a WYLAN Project that never worked?
2. Or is it the same man who will bluntly ignored students cry and push away letters from students leaders?
3. Or is it the same man who will shut students up when they wish to speak up their mind?
Now, reconsider what you mean by moral and integrity. Prof. Patrick Muoboghare is far from what a man with morals and integrity really is.
We can’t forget in hurry the days of Hon. Emetulu, and Hon. Sinebe while they served in the office of the Commissioner for Higher Education.
We’re coming to his (Prof. Patrick Muoboghare) tenure as Commissioner for Basic Education during Gov. Uduaghan’s regime.
Every effort to reach out to the office of commissioner for comments on the mind boggling allegations proved abortive as the mobile numbers sent to Focus Naija returned switched off till date
