Ahmad Ahmad, the President of the Confederation of African Football has been banned by FIFA.
The president of the Confederation of African Football, Ahmad Ahmad has lost his position.
This comes after he was slammed with a five-year ban by FIFA for engaging in corruption.
The announcement was made by FIFA on Monday.
The adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has banned Ahmad for breaches of duty of loyalty, offering and accepting gifts or other benefits, abuse of position, and misappropriation of funds, a FIFA statement confirmed.
CAF however are yet to respond to the news, and it remains to be seen what this means for the elections of the new CAF president, which were scheduled for 12 March 2021.
Ahmad has been president of the African Football Confederation since March 2017 and was standing for re-election.
